        Mona Spa and Laser Center Aestheticians have been performing TITAN treatments for skin tightening since the fall of 2004, shortly after this modality was introduced.  To date we have performed more than 1,000 Titan services.
 
        Cosmetic and laser medicine all too often seems to be driven by "the latest and greatest" mentality.  We are sometimes mesmerized by a desire for the newest machine, the newest technology.  A piece of equipment that has been around for a while is often considered dated.
 
        TITAN is one of the exceptions to that rule.  This safe, reliable, and effective instrument uses infrared energy to stimulate collagen tightening and collagen production.  And even though it is a high-tech precision instrument, results are very dependent upon the skill of the operator.

          Does Skin Tightening have to hurt? 

No, and continued research is on our side to discover efficacious treatments that present little or no discomfort for the client.

Cutera, Inc. voluntarily recalled the Titan ("tighten") skin tightening laser hand piece in 2010, after a learning that a change in the “gold” band of the technology would reduce the treatments occasional “arch of heat” that proved to be uncomfortable during about 10% of the treatment. Since 2004, Mona Spa and Laser Center being one of the first to offer Titan® treatments, have been a safe, non-surgical process that uses an infrared light source to tighten skin and reverse the signs of aging.

The Titan technology heats the dermis to cause collagen contraction while preserving the epidermis through continuous cooling. No pain medication is needed at all. There is no down time and no incisions or scars either.

In addition, Titan can stimulate long-term collagen rebuilding that leaves clients with younger looking skin. This device has also been used successfully in other body areas such as abdomen, arms, upper chest, and thighs. Most clients notice immediate changes, which gradually improve over several months. Because the Titan targets water in the skin, there is no risk of application skin dimpling caused by high heat in the skin’s fat often seen with Thermage and RF bi-polar technology. Clinical results confirm improvement in better than 90 percent of the patients treated. When compared to radio wave thermal technology, TITAN™ has been shown to be at least twice as effective.

How does the Cutera Titan work?

Titan uses a safe infrared light to heat the dermis well below the skin's surface. During the procedure, the skin's surface (epidermis) is protected through continuous cooling with the Titan handpiece.

Titan's light-based platform provides a more uniform distribution of energy for heating the deep dermis than other energy sources, such as RF (radio-frequency).

Who can be treated?

Since the Titan procedure heats tissue under the skin's surface, patients of any skin type or age can be treated. Your practitioner can advise you if the Titan is right for you.

Recommended Treatments:

Treatment length may vary from several minutes to an hour and normal activities may resume immediately. Some patients may see results right away. For most patients, the results are gradual over a 2-6 month period as new collagen is formed and the skin tightens. Although one treatment will attain significant improvement, it is generally suggested that three treatments be performed at six week intervals.
