Goodbye razors.
Hello touchable smooth skin.

At Mona Esthestics, laser hair removal is a safe and simple procedure for women and men with all different skin colors.

Cool Glide 1064 Laser

What it does:

CoolGlide™ Laser Hair Removal system was the first 1064 nm Nd:YAG system approved for use on all skin types (including African-American) and tanned skin, allowing treatment of a wider patient base than other systems. The proprietary PowerFlex™ Technology allows independent control of pulse width (duration of the laser impulse) and fluence (power level) thus permitting effective treatment on a range of hair thicknesses, including the often difficult-to-treat finer hairs that are left by other systems after a number of treatments.

What to expect during your procedure:

First your shaved skin is gently cleaned. Your skin is assessed and tested by our professional personnel prior to actual treatment to ensure maximum results. A topical numbing agent may be used on your first treatment. You will be ICED to cool the skin and clear gel will be applied to the treated area to aid in cooling and gliding the cold laser tip.

Then, an individually programmable CoolGlide laser is run over the area. The light energy passes through the skin to the pigment in the hair follicle where it is absorbed. You will be ICED again for comfort. You will leave the spa after you skin has been treated with post-treatment hydration and SPF protective. Within two to three weeks those hairs, which were in the active growth phase during treatment and absorbed the light energy, will be permanently eliminated and fall out.

Who is a candidate:

Men and women that want to reduce and remove unwanted hair that has some color pigment in the hair follicle. Lasers do not see or interact with grey or white hair.

What does it feel like:

As the name implies, the CoolGlide hand piece cools and soothes as it glides along your skin. When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. No local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required. However, some clients may prefer to use a topical anesthetic when sensitive areas are treated.

What it costs:

Most areas require 6 – 10 treatments. However, the number of CoolGlide treatments required for optimal long-term benefits depends on multiple factors such as hair thickness, the area treated and your hair’s growth cycle. For example, not all hairs are actively growing at the same time and actually go through three distinct phases: growth, regression, and resting. Therefore, we do not get every hair follicle each treatment because CoolGlide treatments work by disabling the hair that is principally in the active growth phase at the time of treatment. Since other hairs will enter this active growth phase at different times, additional treatments may be necessary to disable all of the hair follicles in a given area. Each 20 minute ( treating an area about 4 x 5 inches of surface hair),  visit costs $175. Discounted packages are sold for more time or for more areas and multiple visits.

How to prep:

Pre-shave the treatment area. DO NOT put numbing gel on the area.

 What happens after your procedure:

Immediately following your CoolGlide treatment, the area may appear a bit red and swollen. You will have post treatment hydration and SPF lotions applied to the treated area before you leave the spa. Three to seven days after treatment you may experience what seems to be re-growth of hair. Actually, most of these hairs are being shed as a result of your treatment and are not regrowing. Between treatments you should not wax (hold that thought),  or pluck your hair, but it is permissible to shave.

Although clients experience few side effects, the most common are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, similar to a sunburn. These effects typically last for several hours or less. In rare instances, blistering can occur.

How does CoolGlide compare with electrolysis:

Electrolysis is a tedious, invasive, and painful process that involves inserting a needle into each individual hair follicle and delivering an electrical charge to each hair one at a time. Electrolysis often requires years of treatments at regular intervals. By delivering light energy to hundreds of hair follicles at a time, the CoolGlide effectively treats an area in just seconds that would take over an hour with electrolysis.

XEO ProWave LX Treatment

What it does:

The ProWave LX overcomes the limits of other IPL technology for hair removal. Lighter and finer hair removal is more easily possible with the better targeting capabilities. The ProWave LX provides a fast, comfortable hair removal treatment that can be used on small and large areas.

Who is a candidate:

Men and women determined to have Fitzpatrick I, ll, lll skin types. Clients that have finer hair with less color pigment often get the end result fine tuned with IPL technology. In some instances, repeated treatments with other technologies take the hair pigment out. However, course, lighter hair re-grows and may require this technology for best results.

What it costs:

Most areas require 6 – 10 treatments. However, the number of ProWave treatments required for optimal long-term benefits depends on multiple factors such as hair thickness, the area treated and your hair’s growth cycle. How to prep:

Shave the area to be treated. DO NOT apply numbing cream to the area.

What to expect during your procedure:

Its fast flash lamp will be faster than CoolGlide and most other technologies. If it’s too “hot”, ask your technician to adjust cooling. Your feedback is good! You will be treated with icing and chilling before, simultaneous and AFTER!
